Let’s face it…it’s no fun whatsoever to begin a vacation with something such as the cold or a nasty flu bug. Even worse is the fact that if you are visiting a foreign land, you can definitely become sick thanks to exposure to all manners of germs and even changes in your normal routine. It can also not be very relaxing to have to spend most of your vacation time caring for children who have become sick on the vacation.

Thankfully there are ways to prevent these very things from happening. Here are twelve useful tips for helping to ensure that your family has as much of a healthy vacation as possible.

For instance, when planning your healthy vacation, consider renting a house with a kitchen, which is actually much cheaper than renting a hotel room. This will provide you with more space, meaning you will be able to actually prepare meals that are healthy.

INVEST IN HAND SANITIZER AND ANTIBACTERIAL WIPES
No matter where we travel, we are always exposed to various kinds of germs, especially on an airplane. This is where products such as antibacterial wipes and hand sanitiizer become essential parts of a healthy vacation. For instance, use the wipes to wipe down arm rests and tray tables while on a plane. This is especially important if you have children who will be making good use of these surfaces. Hand sanitizer comes in handy for when you go into a restroom that may not contain any soap as well.

INVEST IN PROBIOTICS
This is a tip that is especially important for anyone looking to maintain a healthy vacation. Probiotics work hard to help boost the human body’s immune system, as well as helping the digestive system become familiar with new foods that you may not have previously eaten before.

ALWAYS CHECK TRAVEL ADVISORIES
Another useful tip for ensuring a healthy vacatiion is to check any and all travel advisories for the area in which you will be vacationing. For instance, if it is recommended that you only drink bottled water instead of tap water, then follow that advisory and all other details to the letter. INVEST IN SUPPLEMENTS
Many airplanes are outfitted with something called a HEPA filter, which is designed to help filter out germs throughout the plane. However, there is also the increased chance that many of these germs will directly travel right past a person before it gets to the filter itself. Investing in various kinds of supplements is essential in this case because it can help with issues such as cutting the duration of a cold that can develop because of these germs.

IMMUNIZATIONS
We all know it’s important to make sure that you get all of the necessary immunizations before you travel somewhere. It’s all part of helping to maintain a healthy vacation. However, you will want to ensure that you do not schedule any immunizations within three weeks before you embark on your journey. In addition, if you are planning on traveling to a location that recommends you obtain any additional immunizations before traveling there, be sure to schedule them the minute you purchase your plane tickets.

STAY AWAY FROM ANYONE WHO’S SICK
As previously stated, a healthy vacation can be ruined if someone gets sick along the way. This makes it especially important to completely distance yourself as much as possible from anyone who may be sick with any kind of illness. If you end up getting unfortunately stuck in the same row as them on your flight, do not sit your children near them, as children can easily catch whatever it is that they may have.

ALLERGIES OR SENSITIVE SKIN?
If you either suffer from any kind of allergies or have sensitive skin, make sure that you bring your own kind of soap, laundry detergent, etc. on your trip with you. You also will want to bring your own allergy medicine with you even if the location you’re traveling to may have it available.
